This bourbon is a blend of six-, eight- and twelve-year old barrels. He is with a cask strength of 56.8% vol. bottled.

The company Austin Nichols has been the owner of the distillery since 1980, but since 2009 belongs to the company Campari. Wild Turkey is the world's leading premium Kentucky Bourbon whiskey and an iconic premium bourbon in the US. Under the label Wild Turkey a variety of Bourbon variations with different alcohol content is offered, as well as this Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon whiskey. The name of the whiskey is supposedly due to the fact that former Distillery Manager Thomas McCarthy once took a bottle of it to turkey hunting and enthusiastically asked his friends for more of this turkey whiskey.
