Friends of typical Ginnoten with juniper, herbs and citrus get their money's worth at the Malfy Gin Originale, where the label design with turquoise details reveals that this gin is just so full of Mediterranean flavors.
In Moncalieri, traditionally an area where spirits such as Carpano, Cinzano and Martini Rossi are produced, the Torino Distillati distillery with its Malfy Gin is rather an exotic one. Founded in 1906 by Fratelli Ferrero di Riccardo as a family business dedicated to the production of vermouth and wine, the distillery was acquired by Seagram in the 1960s. Then, in 1992, she fell into the hands of Carlo Vergnano, who, with the help of his wife and daughter, invented Malfy Gin as a "byproduct" and first produced it in small quantities. Soon, this gin enjoyed a certain popularity and was produced in larger batches. For this purpose, the zests of Amalfi and Sicilian lemons are macerated and pressed in a ratio of 20 to 80% in neutral cereal alcohol. This extract is then treated with Tuscan juniper, cilantro, cinnamon cassia, liquorice and the skins of oranges and grapefruit and distilled in a stainless steel bladder under vacuum at 60 degrees. Due to this low distillation temperature, the flavorings remain almost unchanged. After completion, the gin is then bottled, which immediately catch the eye with its white-turquoise label.
