18 years allowed this whiskey from Highland Park remain in the barrel. The whiskey is matured in sherry cask. Nose: an empty honey jar, which contained peat. An enormous nose that seems to get better with each sample, although the characteristic salted butter is always present. Marvelous. Palate: beautifully sweet - even sweeter than the 12 years with peat on the back palate. Beautifully tough, oily and substantial. Finish: still peaty and now a little oaky. Cocoa and toffee, creamy complexity.
