As early as 1919, the liqueur invented by the brothers Luigi and Silvio Barbieri was produced. The Aperol became really successful only after the Second World War. That's why he is one of the most popular aperitif drinks in Italy today. It is made according to the old, top-secret recipe of rhubarb, cinchona bark, yellow gentian, bitter orange and aromatic herbs. Because of its fruity-bitter taste, it is usually used as an aperitif or in cocktails.
