The exotic origin of the Don Papa Rums is immediately apparent. Sure - all rums come more or less from exotic destinations, but the Philippines is not only a tropical island nation, but also a rather unusual country of origin for an internationally marketed rum. The Don Papa brand has been proving for many years that the basic requirements for the production of high-quality rums in this Far Eastern country are met. The product range is constantly growing. The latest addition is Don Papa Baroko Rum, which was launched in 2020. Like the other rums, it is produced on the volcanic island of Negros Occidental. La Tondeña Distilleria is located directly on the west coast, with extensive fields stretching behind it up to the flanks of the Canloan volcano. A traditional hotspot for sugarcane cultivation, the region is aptly known as "Sugarlandia." Don Papa Baroko Rum is made from molasses and aged in those barrels that most clearly reveal its sweet fruit and vanilla aromas. And who is Don Papa, anyway? The name refers to Colonel Dionisio Magbuelas or "Papa Isio", who went down in Philippine history as a revolutionary fighter and died in captivity in 1911.
