DON JULIO 1942 Tequila Gift Pack 70 cl / 38% Mexico

This premium tequila is made from 100% Weber blue agave using traditional methods and is aged for 30 months in white oak barrels. It is a tribute to the founder of the company, Don Julio, who began making his tequilas in 1942.

Tradition has it that Don Julio Gonzalez-Fraustro Estrada originally produced his eponymous tequila only in small quantities and at the age of 17. It was not intended for sale, but for his private use. Soon Don Julio decided to start his own distillery. His goal with Don Julio was to capture the flavor of the Blue Agave grown specifically for his distillery, which grew for eight to ten years on the mineral-rich clay soil. These agaves were planted with extra space between them to produce an extremely high sugar content in them. After the agave hearts are harvested, they are roasted in stone ovens for three days before being distilled into Don Julio Tequila. The "Don Julio 1942" tequila is then aged for two and a half years in selected American white oak barrels before being bottled in the slim bottle.
