Mavrio wines are character wines made from pure Negroamaro grapes! They are grown in Puglia, the warm south of Italy, and are then aged for several months in barrique. Then they present themselves in full development, revealing a dark sweetness and a sun-soaked aroma. Within a short period of time, Mavrio has become the favorite of Swiss wine drinkers, and the wine critic Luca Maroni has already honored the valuable southern Italian wines with high ratings on several occasions.

Puglia in southern Italy is one of the country's most productive wine-growing regions. From the spur of the boot near Foggia to the tip of the heel behind Lecce, Puglia stretches for 400 kilometers. The area has the most grape varieties in southern Italy, about 80 percent of them red. Mediterranean climate and calcareous subsoils with iron oxide-rich layers above create perfect conditions for viticulture. In the dry, hot summers, the grapes ripen optimally, and the wines become deeply dark, earthy and full-bodied. Unlike the other southern regions, there are hardly any mountains here; the landscape consists mainly of plateaus and flatlands. This is a wine-growing region with enormous potential - the possibilities of the countless autochthonous grape varieties are far from exhausted. Even today, Puglia offers the highest quality wines of great intensity and richness; the finest qualities among them grow on the Salento peninsula.
