Grappa Berta TRA NOI, made from the Piedmontese Nebbiolo grape and packaged here in a wooden box, is a fusion of the Italian art of distillation and the Swiss craft of cooperage.

The Berta grappa distillery is located half an hour south-east of Asti - the Italian town that gave its name to the famous sparkling wine Asti Spumante. Surrounded by extensive vineyards, the distillery specializes in processing wine marc that is supplied from all over the country. After the successful fermentation process and distillation in modern stills, the pomace brandy is first stored in steel containers and then in barrels made from various types of wood, which are stacked in the impressive ageing cellar. In the well-insulated, ventilated cellar system, natural temperature fluctuations are eliminated, allowing the grappas to mature evenly. The Berta distillery's product range is extensive. The grappas from the TRA NOI collection have one thing in common: they are stored in barrels made from Schyzwer cherry wood. This is quite a rarity in the spirits industry, but the Berta family recognized that their grappas harmonize particularly well with the traditional Swiss wood. The Nebbiolo da Barolo grappa is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. These come from Piedmont and produce tannin-rich, expressive red wines. Because the grape variety is so demanding, it has not yet been able to establish itself in foreign growing regions. Yet the Nebbiolo vine has been cultivated in the hills of Montferrat - the home of the grappa distillery - since ancient times! The grappa tastes full-bodied, fruity, smooth and sweet. It should rest in the glass for a few minutes before tasting so that the aroma can fully develop.
