SUZE Apéritif Élaboré bitter liqueur 1 liter / 20 % France
A French herbal liqueur with the gentian root as the main ingredient. The bottle was designed by Henri Porte and is only available in limited edition.
Where the herbal liqueur "Suze" originally comes from is not completely clear. There are many indications that its roots lie in Switzerland, more precisely in the Bernese Jura - after all, one of the main ingredients (yellow gentian) grows there and there is a river called Suze. Allegedly the inventor Hans Kappeler is said to have forgotten to patent his recipe and then had to sell it to a Frenchman for financial reasons. Another source reports that "Suze" was invented by the Frenchman Fernand Moureaux, who named the herbal liqueur after the nickname of his sister-in-law Suze. But whoever the inventor is, today Suze is produced by the Pernod Ricard Group in France according to the old, traditional recipe. The brand has always had a special relationship with various artists. Picasso began in 1912 with a collage showing a Suze bottle, and since 2001, a number of renowned artists have had the opportunity to practice their own interpretation of a bottle, which is now available in limited editions.
